Open Vacancy on the Commission:

The City of Jerome is looking for residents interested in serving on the Planning & Zoning Commission. The Commission’s primary duties relate to the Comprehensive Plan, review of development, zoning ordinances, special use permits, and making recommendations to the City Council. The Commission plays an important role in guiding the development of the City.

You must have lived within City limits for the past two years and must remain a resident of the City during your service on the Commission.

About the Planning & Zoning Commission

The City of Jerome Planning and Zoning Commission is made up of seven volunteer commissioners who are appointed by the mayor to serve a six (6) year term. The Commission is responsible for making the conclusive decisions on special use permits, variances, and design review requests.

They are also responsible for making preliminary decisions on all zoning issues, land use ordinance revisions, subdivision ordinance revisions, and adoption and amendment of the Comprehensive Plan. The commission is a state-mandated, quasi-governmental body as defined in Idaho State Code Title 67-65.
